a good copy writer creates organic content that communicates and establishes emotional connections with your readers.

About me

I chose The Purple Quill because I perceive purple as equal parts soothing and empowering, and I think of the written word in the same way. Although technology has made writing and publishing both easier and faster, I believe there’s something to be said for taking care and precision with every word and phrase — the way writing with a quill forces you to do. Even as I work at my computer, I take that amount of care and precision into every project, and think the proof is in the results.

Biography

If you’re lucky, you figure out when you’re young what it is you’re meant to do with your life. In my case, I was very lucky and very young.

I’ve known I wanted to be a writer since I was a 9-year-old fourth grader when I wrote my first story — a fable about a monkey and a peach tree. (It had a twist of an ending you didn’t see coming.) And I’ve known I could be a great editor since I ran my fifth-grade class newspaper, managing my fellow students’ work while getting the scoop on the weekly school lunch menu and upcoming band recital.

In the more than 20 years since then, I’ve become a life-long word nerd. In the span of a 12-year professional career, I’ve now written more than 1,000 articles and edited nearly as many. I’m good at what I do, and more importantly, I love it the way you’re supposed to love your life’s work, but too many don’t. Look no further — I am the talented, organized, detail-oriented, focused writer and editor that your organization needs.

Having served as Editor of several national print and online publications, I have a wide range of experience in writing, editing, communications and production management.

Currently, as Editor-in-Chief for Employee Benefit News, I turn some 30,000 words of copy each month into polished news and feature articles that hit the desks of 70,000-plus readers. I oversee a team of 15 to produce the four-color magazine 15 times per year.

In previous positions and other freelance work, I have edited everything from children’s books to scholarly journals, all with the same commitment to excellence and eye for detail, and never missing a deadline. I will do the same for your organization, and look forward to the opportunity.
